Nightmares in Daylight

scary thoughts pass by your eyes
screams that chill fill the skies
the corpses come up from the ground
skeletal ghouls all gather round
the pumpkin king sits high upon his throne
Jack, made entirely of whitened bone
Sally is the love of his life
she longs to become his eternal wife
one night a year they meet on the hill
the night before christmas to share their own thrills
they long to be able to be together
however one is dead and there is no forever
the moon shines bright as he rolls the dice
he throws them once and then throws them twice
jumping out of your skin from the sound of their song
a lullabye so thrilling you won't know whats wrong
tantilizing visions go through your ears
Jack and Sally run through the  hall of mirrors
the graveyard is filled with interesting sprites
as the preacher reads the killer's last rites
Sally is reunited at last to her king
the casket is lowered with the glint of a ring

  • ...I must apologise for the late judging...exams have consumed me...

...I can definetely see the link here which has been pulled off very accurately...the comparison of rhyming schemes between the actual song and this poem are precise and clearly presented...which is a very difficult thing to do...

...what's more you have taken the context into this poem very well...the story of the nightmare before christmas is all there and I can definetely hear the Brendon Urie vocals coming through...

...very well done and good luck in the contest...
