Appreciation?

Maybe all I can hope for
is honorable mention
It's just a little
something nice to know
appreciation for all my hard work
the heart longs to know
love from all angles
with smiles that
glow for others
but tears shed
in silence for me
maybe I shouldn't care
what others think
but then again
a little thanks
isn't to much to ask
or is it?

isnt it beautiful and great how the people reacted to this poem ? i find it remarkable

  • That's what it is - "a little thanks", just not as much as some others get. Don't forget, many don't get any. And don't forget those 30 points.

    Enjoyed your write.

  • The world can be sooo cold, as if no one is paying attention to us.
You have done very well with this.

It is never too much to ask for and always greater than we can expect. All you can do is no that you are enough to be all the wonders you can be. Like I tell my son, "If you want people to feel you are special, don't try to show them how special you are. Show them how special they are and they will think you are the greatest person in the world." Like the poem. There is nothing wrong for achieving honorable mention. To be one of six winners out of thirty is a good thing. My nephew was in the VA high school cook off and complaining about being sixth. He told me in great detail what he should of done to be first and was angry at himself cause he didn't. I didn't know anything about the cook off and figured it couldn't have been that big for him to be so upset. I asked how many kids were in it. He says, "Oh, about 40,000."

Thanks for entering the contest. Best of luck.

    Love, Tom B.

    • A funny story. Maybe this society does put too much important on winning, and too little on doing a good job.

      Great contest.

  • I think you're special no matter what C

Tenderly written, the softness in the tone of this poem gives it an air of freshness, yet there's an understanding statement through out...this is penned well....with a little twist in it's inking

    thanks for the share
