Left Behind

You stand there,
hidden
just beyond the headlights,
a smokey shadow
just beyond
my recognition.

A life we could of had
left behind,
burnt away in the dusk
of another Korean evening.

We're so far away
but I still can't stop
myself from thinking
of those long nights
spent under the stars
through a sunroof
on a car I didn't own.

A fresh start,
they said,
is what I needed,
but all I want
is to fly home
to you,
to us,
to everything I left behind
and everything I want back.

I really enjoyed this poem. I feel that way most of the time, and It's hard to leave knowing the possibilites of everything else. Can't help but wonder.. What else could there be? This one really hits me man, thanks for the good write.
