Waking up to sunshine
After a long night's dream
The remnants of darkness gone
Shadows of light to be seen
Dancing on the walls
While her eyes are still sleepy
Reviving her, renewing her...
Calling out to her meekly...
But she's still in another world
Mesmerized by fantasy
In her mind's eye there's no way out you see
Stuck in a dream...fading away
White dress flowing behind her
In a field of daisies she will stay
Twirling like a little girl
Staring up at a blue sky
With fluffy clouds eternal
In her mind's eye
Weaving flowers in her hair
As she watches from afar
That little boy in the playground
"Oh how handsome you are!"
She whispers those words on the wind
But no one hears
She wants to steal a kiss
From the mirage that she fears
"Little boy, please kiss me...
On the cheek is all I'm asking
I don't even know your name
So the lips would be abashing"
He kisses her but she does not feel
For he's in her mind's eye
Fading away, he slowly disappears
Leaving her to cry
He enters into the world of unfinished dreams
Never to be relinquished, now it seems
The field of daisies and her little girl stature
Are now fading away faster and faster
Because she must wake up to sunshine
After a long night's dream
The remnants of darkness now gone
Shadows of light to be seen
But where do unfinished dreams go
After they leave our heads?
Do they fall into an abyss
Are they now dead?
Or can they be relinquished
When eyes fall victim to sleep
Can these dreams, in our mind's eye keep?
