You Left Me Alone in the Rain

In the darkness, we used to RISE together.
We always wondered if things would've changed IF EVERYONE CARED.
If only I could've been INSIDE YOUR HEAD.
I didn't want that HAND OF SORROW
Outstretched from the realms of the DARK LADY
To extinguish the flames of THIS LOVE that I feel for you.
I just wanted to dance with you in the PURPLE RAIN
And never again have to sing HALLELUJAH alone.
In those forgotten days, I was your WHISKEY GIRL
And you were my bright and shining ALL STAR.
I could've held you forever, o SWEET CHILD O' MINE,
In those glorious days while we were ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE.
It was then that the SHADOW OF THE DAY finally shrouded us for good.
I swore I'd love you ALWAYS
And you said, "I WILL ALWAYS RETURN."
I didn't expect THE CHRONICLES OF LIFE AND DEATH to be written
By the hand of a LOSER such as myself
While I STAND ALONE, wondering why such events occurred so fast.
The VIOLENCE that flew through me
As she begged you, "COWBOY TAKE ME AWAY,"
Was enough to crush my every REVERIE that had you in it.
I know I AIN'T AS GOOD AS I ONCE WAS,
But at that moment, I was LOSING GRIP.
I knew you couldn't just LEAVE OUT ALL THE REST,
Those nights you were my savior, answering my S.O.S.,
Teaching me how to take the HANDLEBARS of my life and ride,
Reassuring me with every single, "WE BELIEVE in you."
Dammit, I thought you were MY FRIENDS!
I didn't realize you'd turn out to be my KRYPTONITE.
So here I am, LEARNING TO LIVE on my own again,
Trying to forget the fact that you're ALL THAT I'VE GOT.
I can't believe I swore that I'd WAIT FOR YOU.
Maybe it's because I knew I was nothing WITHOUT YOU.
You were the best friend who swore to REMEMBER THE NAME
Of the girl you turned into an angel when everyone saw only a DEVIL,
The girl you wanted to ROCK AND ROLL ALL NITE with!
But I'LL STAY HERE, away from your new life,
In the RAIN, remembering how we used to dance in the puddles,
Pretending to be GYPSIES, TRAMPS, AND THIEVES in the pale moonlight.
No matter what, you'll always be THE ONLY ONE who knew the real me.

    Let me just start with...
    I love this!

You mastered the essence of this contest perfectly. While it may not be the smoothest poem or the most rhythmic, you definitely took a tough combination of titles and turned them into a story. One that makes sense and is easy to follow.

The part that makes me know that this is good, is because through the rough parts (while I know there are always going to be rough parts with this prompt) I can see the skilled writer that you are through the words and thought put into this.

    A couple lines I loved:

"I just wanted to dance with you in the PURPLE RAIN
And never again have to sing HALLELUJAH alone."

"I knew you couldn't just LEAVE OUT ALL THE REST,
Those nights you were my savior, answering my S.O.S."

Also, thanks for following all the rules. And I like your taste in music!
