This is not alright, it's normality

Why should we not suffer for beauty?
For is it not true that the harder our journey, the more desired and treasured becomes our goal.
Their Envy should not be given to ease, but to the elite, who have proven themselves worthy.
This is real beauty, and thus, real pain.

Why should we not strive for perfection?
Is it not true that, being only human, we idealize that which we fail ourselves?
Our efforts are half chance; if we succeed we can claim superiority.
If we do not, we are not judged.
We are merely average.

Why should we not punish our weaknesses?
Is it not true that our weaknesses are our downfall, our failure?
We are disgusting and pathetic and for that we deserve nothing.
We do not reward pitiful deeds of halfhearted passion.
We reward success, hard work, improvement.
We reward pain.

Why must it be so complicated?
We are fierce, we are driven and ultimately, we are sure of our dream.
We suffer, we strive, we punish
And yet, there will always be that second in which we shall waver.
We shall reach out, in greed, in weakness, in fury for a dirty little secret.
‘It is just ours, we have failed but it’s alright’
‘We are disgusting and we are weak and we deserve nothing, and it’s alright.’

But it’s not alright, it will never be alright.

    Great Poem!

There are some really good points in here. I love it. I understand your thought process in this poem, twisted as it may seem, I understand.

Hi! I wanted to stop in and welcome you to the site. I hope you are finding all ok

This poem is interesting on so many levels. I don't think I personally have ever read about this in this particular way before. Beauty.. though it is not easily obtained for all... we have to question what real beauty is. Beautiful can only be reached from our heart. No matter how "beautiful" one may be seen as, someone will find fault. Perfection is something that is never humanly reached. It is impossible. And you are right... it is not alright. But, real beauty comes from strength. With strength comes self control... and with self control comes beauty. As far as the one's that judge... and there always will be one to pass judgement... well, people that act that way are actually the weak ones... and they have NO self control. There is healthy ways to reach goals. Beauty will serve no purpose at all if one is dead. Sad, but true.

I wish you the best in poetry and in life. I hope this is not true, and I hope you do not suffer with this. Love yourself, and you shall be loved
