A Sunday long ago
marked by
burnt toast and runny eggs
served on his favorite ninja turtle plate
a bouquet of dandilions
accompanying crude crayon
scrawls to the best mom ever
a sparkling ring of cut glass
guaranteed to turn a finger green
because you deserve the best mom
even though his father long ago
stopped believing I deserved anything
more than a curt word
This sunday
marked by
a long distance call
I love you mom
see you soon mom
really busy mom
a mother's job
well done, success
marked by an empty nest
