Hey momma
you a shining star
without your love
we couldn't go far...

without your wit
our words wouldn't fit
'inherited this light',
it's straight up legit...

O' wise one, look what you done
getting love back from another son
this is your day and you'll look back and reflect
and fondly I will to, with love and respect...

amazing ' little mommy' of mine L.O.L.
I can hear you saying it now, this line...

" Hmmph- ahh, what's the matter dear you confused? "
I've cracked up laughing over the many lines you've used
seriously, though you are short.. only in height
gigantic is your heart with all of it's might...

hey momma
you are 'our' shining star
god knows without your love and light

we just couldn't have gone far...

I can think of nothing else that is as beautiful as a mans love and respect for his mom, this is such a beautiful write.

oh man......being from Ireland I'm a sucker for mum poems.
my friend you could have not made her more proud of you.
The simple gesture of poetry is like a corkscrew to the heart to one written about...
it makes the subject feel more special then any gift..
there is no dought you are a poet by this fine work...
but more importantly you are a creative caring loving son to a wonderful woman you call mum.
This touched me heart.

This is great.... reminds me of a teacher i had at military school, whenever we acted up she would break out these crazy lines.... "Hello? You know what I'm sayin?" i can't tell you how funny it was without actually being there and showing you, but this lady had some attitood..... sounds like your beloved mom does too =]

Right On Swan!...Aint nuttin wrong wit sons who love their mothers. I know cuz I have two and they both show me nearly everyday just how much they appreciate their mother.... and at 28 my oldest still calls me Momma... "mommy" aint mushy it's respect and i high five ya brother.

My Mother gave us music from the WW II stardom; We all had a musical career. It is amazing how much we are part of the one who endowed the generational gifts. That makes a purposeful ministry and we know that it is from a fantastic Creator!

Too true; what mothers can do both for their families and their children; sounds like you have one like mine; we're both lucky in that judging by the amount of neglectful, and unloving mothers in todays world.

You write about your momma with such deep emotions and thankfulness. It is so nice to read the words of a son to his mother. I love the "Hmmph-ahh" sound.

This is both sweet and very finely written, Swan. I'm sure your mommy loved it. And yes, I still called my mom "Mommy" many times, when I was in my 40's, before she passed. I still miss her, especially on Mother's Day. It is good to read your poem and remember the "fine work" my own mom did, too. Lita
