The empty room
Once a symbol of grandeur,
The court of God’s appointed
Here on Earth,
Lay strewn with ruins.
The singed and torn crimson drapes
Hung limp from the once majestic ceiling
Whose face was covered by with mirrors of His world
Now bore windows to the endless heavens
As the once vital pillars
Stood taller than ever before
Striving to emerge from the dreary ruins.
The giant doors, portals to an indifferent world,
Swung inward to reveal a child…
As He took a step forward,
The light of his imagination emanated
And diffused throughout the hall
As the faeries of his innocent mind
Danced weaving between the rows
Of the gold-etched marble pillars.
He continued forward.
As each tender footstep caressed
The warm emerald floor,
The golden light slowly filled the room
Outshining the rays from the heavenly guardians
The statues, once broken,
Now prevail proudly on either side
Of the ruby studded sapphire throne.
The little boy slowly sat atop His throne
As a lone knight donning the sparkling armour
which bore proudly His insignia,
Knelt before Him and proclaimed
“Welcome home, Your Highness.”
