I Tried

 

Oh Lord, I tried so hard!

 

You would not forsake

Me, but I did not learn

Learn that lesson I so

Direly needed,

 

 

To be the angel you had

Destined me to be, but

I refused to give my all,

And I tried, I tried to

Redeem myself,

 

 

But I could not let go of 

My wordly ways and

Now I am here begging

For another chance

That I do not deserve

 

 

But I plead oh Lord,

Just one last chance!

    Being a Baby Christian (saved Sept 17, 2008) I have learned that God gives us chances upon chances! Even Christians still sin! And when we do we humbly ask for forgiveness and it is given because God knows that we are not perfect!

    Redemption in the eyes of the almighty is easily granted it is our own self-doubt with which we must do constant battle.

    Our souls may be ours to keep but only granted by the good lord above.

    I like it, I like it so!

    this is such a sad but true poem, so full of emotion. life is so full of hard times and we all make mistakes. the lord is always there to help us in need and give us a second chance. i love this poem so much!! you should try and get it published. good luck in the contest. im sure you will make it o and the picture is awesome

    Good interpretation, asking for a last chance but not knowing if that is ever granted.

    It's a good write, like the structure, flow and rhythm.
