Out of the wild
I left the purity
of life
on life's terms
behind me.
Standing
at the edge of civilization
I cross the threshold
and feel the loss
of self.
An air of oppression
weighs down on me
to conform,
to mold
and shape myself
into something
I'm not!
How high a cost
is my soul willing to pay,
to lose the loneliness
in my heart?
Caught between God's will
and my animal instincts.
Patience is priceless
when you're at the end of it!
