Thank you for the tears you wept for me,
worried if I should but scrape a knee.
Thank you for cheering me up when sad,
you were the only real friend I had.
Many times you caught me in a lie
yet you forgave stupid things I’d try.
Thank you for exposing me to love,
you were like my angle from above.
When you were beside me I felt safe
and life’s small irritants ceased to chafe.
I cannot repay what I owe you,
you’re the hero that got me through.
Still today you are my greatest fan,
helping me to be the best I can.
I send all the love I have your way,
wishing you a Happy Mother’s Day.
