The Whole of You

~

Why do I linger
within the graced soar of
your cliffs?  -
not ahead, not behind
not a-jitter
      or tap
but in that
marriage sanctum
beside;
  as in a still chant
to hushed sibilance.

My eyes bathe, love,
in the polished open space;
a feint to each
lovely camber –
the draped flourish of
willow limbs,

the tapered
glide
of your columns,
Taj between;
traced parfum,
the headquartered
joie de vivre
of your nimbus
here, after; beside
a nascent bob of
misted falls.

I linger
      within the hollow.

Sighhhhhh. Another beauty. I think Neruda is still very much alive in your poetry! Now to see what on Earth could have placed higher than this

    Stunning!

Thank you Allyce. I hope I can write a piece for you in your joint venture with Nic. You mentioned the OVWA (anthology). If you'll notice my poem there, "Again She Flows to Me" shares that same theme with one of Nic's stellar poems, "from my first to my last body" too. I'm honored.
Thanks for stopping by to sigh.

  • Those last lines are treasures ... So much of our history touches the breath of today. There are moments - unforgettable - that only belong to self and when they are gone - they are so sorely missed.

Beautiful words. Your freeverse is blossoming. I loved this and could relate much too well. ~Pamela

    • Aw thank you Pam. What I was trying to capture here was that certain wispy something that is extrasensory with a lover. So hard to explain in words except perhaps only in poetic terms. "The Whole of You" is both the literal and the intangible expressed as one.

      • Indeed it is. and it is quite beautiful. I think you captured its essence quite well.

  • so beautiful & unique.. i love your sensual poems. it's a nice treat when you write them.

  • There is a wonderfully warm well of completeness emanating from within this poetry, The Whole of You embraces Lady Love with a poetic passion and delivers it sotto voce in an assertive, earnest, whisper of worshipful admiration and acceptance.
Well worthy of the Honourable Mention, that which is of honorable intent has majestic merit.

    Sighs...

  • Such beauty amidst the folds of this poem, like a sprite, a sensual morningsong mite, peeking from beneath the underbrush to tempt us. The last line speaks to me of that moment just between.....the angst and urgency of a deep and spiritual place of love.

    • Thank you Carol for mentioning me with honor. Your words mean a lot to me.

    Gently, sensually erotic

Oh, my. This is quite the romantic, sensual write. What a lovely introduction to your poetic voice. I think I shall have to look up more of your writes.

    Nice piece.

Beautiful poetry written with such a rich and tender voice, Paul.... a word-temple for love. This has a touch of Neruda about it... You should write love poetry more often!

    ~ Nicolette

    • Thank you Nicolette. Actually this contest was another Neruda prompt contest hosted by CarolDesjarlais. You may have already peeked and knew that, but all the better if you didn't and recognized Pablo without the hint.

  • WOW Paul!!!!!

This should get you plenty of dates!!!!..lol...This is dripping with romance and tenderness...A very endearing write for a special lady you may love or want to love...It is very warm and gentle and could play a perfect part in a potential courtship with love and adoration and respect!!!!...Thanks for sharing your deepest feelings with us today...I like this new form of writing your doing lately!!!~~~Toni~~~

  • A beautifully sensual & contemplative piece, Poet. One laden with sense & sensation, of worshipping the shrine of your beloved. I especially liked the ending stanzas, particularly, the final line. We all linger in the hollows of poetic thought, of endless adoration. Good luck in Carol's contest.

    • Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to stop by, read, and make this lovely comment.

  • Wonderfully done sweets.

    Enjoyed this read.

    Good luck to you

    Absolutely gorgeous...
    big sigh.

    • I struggled with how to articulate this. I'm still not sure I did it, but maybe I'll churn out a couple of good poems in the process. lol
Your comment is better than a cherry cheese danish. Thank you.
