My ancestors, those who came before
who do what is done.
You taught me rules
Of good, of bad, of the manicured path.
And then you asked me why
I take the path through forest
where the bad wolves with gleaming teeth
watch and plan
the fight.
Consider this those who built
the easy path paved with . . . intention.
When the wolves have sold the forest
and the plains are bare and dead.
When the children kill each other
for the mothers tears.
When forgotten and derided
are your reasons.
When the consequences have come
to pass.
You will be dead.
But I . . .
I will still have too watch it all.
