Sunset Drift ~ Man in a Canoe

River's marsh hems
eddy and sway -
their simple wealth
of stories told
in secreted messages.
Her rustled sand skirts,
in sighed whispers,
drift to ear to weave
then dance away.
Magnificence
hidden inside
Insignificance.

Ochre leaves lift
through wet, black root.
Silence breathes
the murmurings of life.
Each heady reed
knowing the swell -
Her glinted smile...

Every swirl
or flit of wing
must return
to drown in joy -
mysterious joy…
To return again
in kind response.

Life bends slowly
toward a cradled canoe
whose ribs delight
in Her lapped caress.
She moves within,
adrift in her reveries-
Bits of fluff weave
messages on settling night…

He courses through
each flowing pulse
inside his skin-
Sunset drawn
where Man rarely goes,
as Water is moved
to know the depth
of man in canoe ~
canoe in man.

This is a beautiful penning, simone. Indeed, the river is not only felt, but its currents felt, drifting along the moments of your song. Lovely, dear Scribe.

  • i am totally amazed, indeed i am in shock that i can not speak but i can mumble with my fingers, this fine-lined piece of poetry is truly inspiring! it is a diamond of a poem (a true gem that sparkles love and light) that reaches out with beautiful hands of verse, to the reader (in this case being me! hello!) in many wondrous ways. thank you kindly for sharing this, because it deserves all the praise it can get, because it is a little wonder, and attention! i thank you with all of my heart, and my legs and my fingers and even my liver and kidneys. beautiful writing!

      Good Morning,
I'm happy you enjoyed this one, individuality...It is a favorite because it speaks about a dear friend of mine... who actually does love to write while drifting toward sunset in his canoe. It was written in response to one of his lovely poems.

lol... and I thank your heart, legs, fingers, all your visceral organs - and mostly? your beautiful spirit...
