Proud

There are a lot of proud people out there,
Some more deserving then others.
I feel that if the world was really fair,
There are some men that should be the most of all.

Our Veterans that paid such a price for us,
All those years ago during the war.
They are the real pride of the US,
The ones that we should salute more then we do.

The man that came back from war over there,
To be met by scorn and  lies back home.
The ones that knew the true meaning of fear,
So that we could go to sleep in safety each night.

Those that made it home should be proud,
Of the price they paid for what they believed in.
They should know that in the biggest crowd,
They will still stand out, in my mind.

As the people, we should be proud of those,
That never got to come back home again.
And we should make sure their family knows,
That the price they paid was not in vain.
