A Word Is Worth A Thousand Memories

The poems appear like pictures
neatly organized
in a scrapbook of playful reverie.
Unsure of what I'll think
but it is time to reviset
the pages of paths from the past
that created my current incarnation.

The memories and emotions
they all flood in from the peotic pools of past

and I plunge into the pleasure and pain
of each indidual moment.

A naive and excited highscheol graduate
ready to take on the world
yet still insecure and faithless
while at the same time determined and relentless.
So stressed and uncertain
I never knew how
all the pieces of my life
would arrange and fall into place.

Filled with desire and determination
longing to be her everything
both of us
on a search for eternal bliss
and a search to find our identity.
So emotional
were those seemingly endless sumer nights,
the cages rattled
but many lessons wer learn
through trials and errors of each summer endeavor.

I remember the laughs
and the good times of yesterday
almost as if they were happening today,
and now I truly believe what they say.
"One day
you will look back
on the trimph and madness
and all experinces of life
and you will start to laugh."

My mind takes
one last trip back to those days,
but before I return  to my present phase.
I laugh uncontrollably
and I sing my praises of all that was
to the current summer's careless breeze.

Author notes

How appropriate that a contest idea like this would emerge. I wrote a poem for every day of the month last month and I'm using my winning silver membership to organize all of my poems into appropriate categories.
I somehow stumbled across the stuff I was writing at around this time last year. Surprisingly enough, as I aforementioned I merely look at all of these emotional outbursts of many different kind and just laugh as I reflect upon them. It's amazing just how much can change, not only in a year, but in the matter of a day.
So as I move forward to pave new summer paths of remembrance, I gleefully take one last look at the old poetic "photo memory album", then I dust it off, put it away, and continue my journey.

  • I love your imagery,

    "The poems appear like pictures
    neatly organized
in a scrapbook of playful reverie",

    "peotic pools of past",

    "summer's careless breeze"... etc.

There's just a few spelling errors I noticed, but otherwise, this is a great poem

Good job with the prompt. (Yes, I agree with you how amazing it is "just how much can change, not only in a year, but in the matter of a day". It's like, life is always moving on and carrying you with it... and if you don't go along, you'll be left behind in the past )

Thank you so much for your entry and all the best to you
