Utopia Meditation

Man, plant, and machine
Synergy
The architechture of this
Society
Has DMT-touches
From the third eye of man
To artefaction in material reality

No fear of death fallacy
No irrational cleanliness phenomenon
No Godma
No freedom lie
No clock for time
Not a single arbitrary line
No puppet dance show of moneystrings
No million-dollar campaigns behind blue screens
No locust king for president
No citizenry brainwash prison education
Not a greed-smothered nation
No unuttered caste distinctions
No ten-to-five grind concentration work camps
No obesity, the new starvation
No t.v. identity syndrome
No science religion
No altar of celebrity worship
No tax-payed shawshank redemption
Of millions of innocent jailed
No social security number
Death
No D.A.R.E., only the ins and outs
Of every molecule
Including that of ourselves

Man dies every day in psychedelic forays
The temple of the body is but a tool
Like those spawned from the banana's birth
Of the opposable thumbs from the hairless apes

This utopia lies not in material veneer
But at the heart of precious gaiadems
Laid opposite the ten diadems of world
Religion at our feet in another age
Where humans, of God's death, did weep
Straight to the 10,000 year old in us all
Added together, is the sum of the spirit

The ego conception lies deadest of all
Dharma spawns karma
In the eternal interlocked snakewheels
The snake eyes:
There is no mourning for those who have past
The rung, for whatever reasons

Author notes

DMT: Dimethyltryptamine. A tryptamine produced in the body by adding two methyl clusters (hence di-methyl-tryptamine) to a serotonin molecule. Produced naturally in the pineal gland. A Schedule I illegal potent psychedelic. All of mankind should technically be incarcerated for the endogenous production of this substance within the clandestine laboratory of the brain.

Gaiadem is a portmanteau of "Gaia" and "Diadem." It is meant to carry the meaning of diadem, but with the motherlyness of Gaia.

Dharma, roughly translated, is duty. Karma is the notion that what comes around goes around.

Godma: Portmanteau of God and Dogma, meant to specify dogma relating to our conception, understanding, worship, etc. of God.

10,000-year-old man is a Jungian concept of the True Self existent in each psyche. His process of individuation concerns the actualization of this phenomenon.

While reading this I was reminded of "Imagine" - John Lennon. I haven't seen a poem quite like this, but I liked it very much.
    Good luck

Well, I take that as a compliment, since I appreciate much of Lennon's work.

Thank you so much for reading, and most especially enjoying.

      Om shanti.

  • This is a great piece, it felt much like a lesson in life, wonderfully put too. Best to you in the contest

GREAT poem! I'd suggest a black background with a white font , it would make it stand out more. The lines are spectacular, and I love the way you tied two concepts into one. I like the philosophical and scientific metaphors.

    "No t.v. identity syndrome
    No science religion
    No altar of celebrity worship
    No tax-payed shawshank redemption
    Of millions of innocent jailed
    No social security number
    Death
No D.A.R.E., only the ins and outs
    Of every molecule
    Including that of ourselves"

Keep writing! I look forward to reading more.

    • Thanks. Well, I am not one for the use of backgrounds (I've never used one in my time here on AP), but perhaps it is worth consideration. It is indeed another aspect of the poem, giving it a different tone, in particular instances even a different meaning and likewise.

      Om shanti--Hindu for peace.
