This Place I Go

Missing image
Everyone must find a place where they can go to cope
With all the trials life will bring, somewhere that gives them hope
Solace sought where peace abounds is where my thoughts will flow
I find release and self content within this place I go

The stress free shelter that I’ve found where I can meditate
Is somewhere I can always go that’s calming and sedate
Inside a dreamers mind resides a world that few may know
It's here my soul can find itself within this place I go

Without a way to find relief the spirit soon may break
For there are always times that bring much more than one can take
When the stress of troubled times and storms of life may blow
They will never reach me here within this place I go

Never knowing what will be, I’ll enter in the fray
Facing all life’s challenges until the close of day
A peaceful warm and calm abode is waiting for me though
For I have found my Shangri-la within this place I go

    Perfectly fitting!

This completely describes what I'm looking for. It really sounds like you have a true happy place. I don't think everyone has one and it is important that you do.
Good job and good luck in the contest!

The rhyme and meter within this poem are perfect. I have no complaints whatsoever. I said to do that thing you do, and you most certainly did. This sounds like a very nice place to go inside, and I hope the view is accurate. Well done, thanks for entering.

I've always been rather fond of Hope. The demands of survival can sometimes undermine the promises of Life. 'Tis good you've found your path of peace, Poet. Good luck in white stone's contest.

I did say I was going to read some of your other works...

I'm one of those people that thinks all's well that ends well, and thus I tend to look out for poems that end with a twist, or in a similarly beautiful way. Not only did this end well, it began well, too.

There's something so soothing and mystical about your poetry, I can't help but read it twice. If someone else was here to read it for me, I would have my eyes closed, put it that way.

    Please do keep writing. x

Sounds like a place we all would like to be.

  • This is beautiful and a perfect complement for the stunning picture.

One consideration I figured I'd throw out:
In line two, the word "somewhere" reads with the emphasis on "where" which makes the word feel a bit off. Maybe consider using a different word (I can't think of one off the top of my head unfortunately. "A Place" would work, but you used that wording in the first line.)

  • Another awesome piece you have shared with us Steve The rhyme and flow are flawless. I enjoyed this read very much, as I believe we all have our little place to go.Thank you for sharing this with us and best of luck in the contest!
