Man Behind The Mask

Missing image
Another Zorro, with mask
and cloak of black, as black
as the night, which hung
as a curtain, the curtain
of questions you brought
with you on your horse
of pride and self protection
to our village.

Zorro, you make your mark
of Z, on your victims, the
unknowing believers
in your good will, and
genuine care.

From where did you
come, and where
are you going?

Do you court a lady,
are you already spoken
for, or do you have a family?

Zorro, maybe we"ll know
tomorrow..

Yet maybe we never will!

An interesting poetic inclusion as a mystery man. Zorro's the childhood hero of every boy past the age of sixty, in my case, seventy three. Nicely done neighbor.

    Happy trails.

This is a good poem of trying to quess the mytery surrounding Zorro....I realy like the ending...It expalins that his mystery cannot always be solved by our own assumptions.

    return the favor?

Loved this one even got a kick out of reading it and laughed for the first time in a while. I rip off their mask and search their damned souls before they get too close to me
    Good luck in contest angel

    QUESTIONS WITH NO ANSWERS

Men can say the same thing about some ladies who come into their lives. I have had a few in the last couple of years that have me wondering where they came from and why are they here now trying to get my attention. 's

    Rose I love Antonio Banderas,
and his poem referring to Zorro
    as a current character was
    the best! Kisses!

Yes he was always such a mysterious figure! Lopved watching his flair and often swooned at that.
I also like the underlying deeper meaning to this poem,, that I feel. Many people come into our lives and we think we know them, when actually they give little away.
    Love this poem

Hmmm, I really like the style you are working with here. Deep in its philosophical point of view about life and the people we "run into" and also a very everyday, poetic point of view. Nice how the structure leads me to a not so very obvious conclusion... not until I get there. Good solid writing. Will read more.

I used to watch Zorro faithfully and loved it when he would unmask. The mystery always made me crazy. LOL Sometimes we do encounter that personality here and other places on the web. All I can say is beware! Great work, made me smile. I wish you the best in the contest.

    Much Love ♥

  • Zorro is a legend. speaking about hime reminded me of my childhood. your poem is very nice. who knows maybe Zorro is living among us.
    You did it well

  • there is a zorro in all of us, and one which sometime, most times, shows how vulnerable we are. It seems mystery is somehow, covering up another ordinary person who doesn't really want people to know what he's/she's all about. lovely work.

I like this a lot and you did very well with this,

for I was always entralled with the zorro aura . I always like to leave something behind but never wanted to let any part of me known or at the least only the parts that I would know would not come back to haunt me . There is something about keeping things a mystery and used to go to a local hangout and sit in the corner and let people think what they wanted to in their own minds of who and where I came from. But now as the years wane on this aura had now become a open book , so back to the poem. I was greatly impressed cause it brought me back to the times I watched the show. and you hit it all to a T , thanks enjoyed very much and keep writing , your very good at it.

    Mysteries are for solvin lass...
the shallow male is not hard to figure out....
we usually end up tripping over our many masks.....
    Love the analogy....
i also have always loved well placed questions in writing....
    you never disappoint.......
there are many sides to you little gypsy....

  • oh what memories I have of Zorro! I loved this show. I remember thinking about what he looked like without that mask. but at the same time i like the mystery about him. wonderful write and unique too!
    love this one.

  • The rhyming of Zorro and tomorrow is worth the price of admission alone. A very playful and humorous piece, with mysterious undercurrents both of a romantic and religious savior hero of sorts. Unfortunately, most men don't leave a Zee, but and Ex
who wants to kill them. Best of luck in the contest with this wonderful poem.

Well written piece that still leaves that mystery there for all of us to ponder. Who is behind the mask, and what's more...why? I loved Zorro as a kid. The curiousness some people feel for those who have a hidden side is quite amusing at times. I have seen people try to break through people who hide behind masks. Not because they are awed by them, but because they can't stand the mystery being hidden from them. Anyway, that's my opinion. Thanks for the great read and the thought provoking lines that make one think....and smile.

  • Now i had to come back and read again,
this is rich! and so funny i love the flow and ryhme
you have a great sense of humor mom
that dang masked man, who is he today?

    Love ya

So true and yet I see women flocking to such guys. I wonder it is the thrill of the chase or his promise of great love and sex. Either way the fantasy continues.

  • I think all men like to be a zorro sometimes in their life. Lovely piece of diction,

  • This is very expressive of those questions we must always ask ourselves and it does raise many a question when a man behind a mask does appear out of nowhere.

I like it, I like it so!

  • Well written. I like the easy smooth flow.
Some find it safe behind a mask. Being anonymous is very nice, a place to hide.
