My long lost uncle passed away
A Mansion was left in his will
His tortured soul in disarray
The estate was high on a hill

I rode the coach into the night
And arrived at the property
I entered the gate in dim moonlight
I don’t know what came over me

I had a note penned in his hand
He wrote it in verse to his niece
It said that I would understand
If I fold the poem in a crease

The answer sent chills up my back
A crease in the spine of the house
For it said the house would attack
It swallowed the soul of his spouse

It swallowed the soul of his spouse
For it said the house would attack
A crease in the spine of the house
The answer sent chills up my back

If I fold the poem in a crease
It said that I would understand
He wrote it in verse to his niece
I had a note penned in his hand

I don’t know what came over me
I entered the gate in dim moonlight
And arrived at the property
I rode the coach into the night

The estate was high on a hill
His tortured soul in disarray
A Mansion was left in his will
My long lost uncle passed away

OK now you have shown us what you can do Kindly leave the stage.
    Excellent

  • Creepy (in a good way). It puts me in mind of a old black and white film. I rather like this form, i suspect not all subjects would read as well in both directions, but I think this eerie one fits the bill nicely!

  • Too bloody clever by three quarters

and all done with no sacrifice to the poetry, nicely dark and mysterious, love it!!!!
