Children of Night

The twinkling lights of civilization
Sitting staunchly on the horizon
Sounds of industrial splendor
Find the wind too drab and boring

I fell in the sky
The milky eyes of space
The milky eyes of space
I broke my brain on it

A sanctuary of street lights
Tuck me in the dead of night
Planets and stars bathe above
The door closed to my sight

I fell in the night sky
Am I a miracle like you
Am I a miracle like you
I broke my brain on it

A slumber for one is for two
A debate broken by the hands of time
A pillow of cotton to absorb the pain
Of hers, his, yours, and mine

I fell in the sky
Am I a miracle like you
The milky eyes of space
I broke my brain on it

The world is black and the world is white
The chills of night do not discriminate
Slowly stalking the children of mother
She cannot help, they can only wait

I fell in the sky
Am I as evil as you
Am I as evil as you
I broke my brain on it

I do not wear your omni-cloak
I am only your wayward son
Struggling to see your face
Without help, fear, or the sun

I fell in the sky
Am I a miracle like you
The milky eyes of space
Am I as evil as you
Man made your face
I broke my brain on it

Please tell me what you think

  • Children of the night. - perfect title for these lyrics and the change up in the refrains is aptly done.

    Favorite stanza is:

"I do not wear your omni-cloak
I am only your wayward son
    Struggling to see your face
Without help, fear, or the sun"

Which truly places the maturity in this piece. Thank you for the opportunity to read and enjoy. ~The Blue Lamp
