Dancing gracefully in the shadows of midnight
Crickets and owls sing her their sinful songs
Moonlight shines through the wicked black trees
Painting abstract shapes upon her pale bitten body
A broken butterfly with honey eyes
Peircing the darkness like the sweet sun
But in them is a warm golden mirror
Reflection of forgotten memories
Clouds consume the stars and moon
The only light is from her eyes glow
But now she has fallen from her dance
The sky begins to crack, flash and pour
Her wings once soft and beautiful
Now soaked, muddy, and broken
Songs of crickets and owls become whispers
Whispers of a past once thought only ashes
Now slowly in this blackness she fades
Tears fall with the rain as she begins to pray..
Sunlight now peeks through the trees
And there fluttering peacefuly
A beautiful black butterfly
With soft golden edged wings
Author notes
Trying to be something she is not. Dancing in sin. Finally she is so beaten and broken that she looks to her faith that she had forgotten. In time day breaks and she becomes the butterfly she really is and stays with the light <3

This is a very pretty piece. I love butterflies. I liked the ending staza, shows hope in the end. Nice imagery and it's very easy to understand the metaphors. Thanks for entering and good luck.
