Did You see that?

Missing image

Hey Bertie, old girl, did you see that?
I sure did Bert, but I'm not sure what it was.

I think they call it man.
What kind of bird is that?

I heard about this creature
from the Flamingo at the swamp.
He tells me they're endangered
and don't have much of a future.

They have trouble feeding themselves
and fight over pieces of ground.
They are careless with the ecology
and too clumsy to take care of themselves.

Maybe if they had some wings
and could fly like you and me,
or maybe even beaks
to open up new things.

The wings would show them how to soar
to heights where they'll be free.
The beaks would open possibilities
never known before.

This poor creature, that is called man.
There's not much we can do.
Just sit and wait for his demise
by this creatures very hand.

  • so true...hopefully we don't take the other creatures with us!!!

  • Loved the twist you added to this. I'm sure we are viewed just this way many times, it is so true.

Thank you for your comments. I just could not write about how beautiful they were or how much they seemed like love birds.
Thank you again for reading this poem!

I'm sure that we are discussed by birds much more than we realise, good poem with a lesson for us to here,(if we had the intelligence of a gnat
