And I drift away....

Small, not real smiles cross my face,
I feel so isolated in such a crowded place,
yet I'm confident this is my true home.

Taking in the stale air of my presence
I notice a faint smell of death lingering,
but I'm not scared rather pleased with relief.

This game becomes tiring after playing so long -
I'm willing my soul to move beyond life's lullaby,
as I'm looking around what used to be contented moments.

My eyes betray what's hidden beneath the surface,

I'm not dead, alive or even here in this aspect.

I float along everyone's conscience...

...Never being who I was suppose to be.
