No Ending At All

We had known each other for years,
Longer than your marriage,
Longer than my marriage.

We met and drank and talked
Of life and art and love
And  laughed and laughed
For years.

And than one day you didn’t
Return my call,
Wouldn’t return my calls,
Tell I felt stupid for calling.

It would have been better
If you had been mad and told me to fuck off,
Or called to say you were all right
But that our relationship
Was not doing you any good.

As it is I can only wonder
And wonder
And wonder.

This came up when I clicked on the "Random" button - since this is the way I prefer to select poems for commenting.

However, I see that this is entered for a competition which is currently open - and I do not think it is proper to comment on poems under such circumstances - lest, in response to my comment, the author should make some changes, and in so doing, eliminate the one feature that would have made the judge consider it worthy of an award!

So: sorry, but all I do is to wish you luck in the competition - and to invite you to send me a link to another of your poems which is NOT currently in a competition.
