Little Soldiers Of Time

He was brought up in a dis-functional home,
left hungry and friendless a world where no love was shown.
Found his way to teen years hard core was his life,
then he joined the service to find.

Life is what you make it and the journey you so choose,
you can either fight your way out or you can lose.
Finding amongst others your life was not unique,
for many of your new friends such a life they had seen.

Now amongst brothers helping one another stay alive,
finds that family they so searched for, for so many long nights .
Learning to love where love was never shown,
it is a challenge yet one that has to be grown.

Trust of another in a strange land you see,
it boggles the mind but will set you free .
To work as a team a family on the edge of hell,
brings closeness between brothers only a soldier can tell.

Young hearts on fire fighting for those back home,
finds that family is where the heart is that's where love is grown.
Reaching out and learning often as we grow,
If you have never had a family then reach beyond home.

True soldiers comes from all walks of life hero's everyone,
it's the way of living that puts old misery on the run.
Yes so many of our boys so injured some die for their belief,
yet tell me what have you done for our heroes today for relief .

Did you take them books to read or just a conversation today,
did you invite them to your gatherings for the holidays.
Have you done your part to show the country with such love,
tell me truly have we done enough.

I say no for many are homeless today,
unable to get help and have truly lost their way.
I say dont you think it's time our country opened their eyes,
and know it wouldn't be our country if those boys refused to fight.

Embrace our service men show them our love indeed,
look about you this very day and fill their every need.
Show them our gratitude for their sacrifices they gave,
and in turn through our bravest of men keep this country truly safe.

Author notes

Today I see a spoilt selfish country one that has a terrible case of me idous . I say shame on you indeed those who fight against our boys out there and picketing their funerals and speaking out about something they have no idea of whats going on . Sure if you have never done anything for your country then I say donty you think its about time . Do something other than sit behind a desk pushing a pencil thats right . You want freedom yet freedom doesnt come cheap and brother those soldiers men and women are the finnest people you will ever meet .
How about instead of ridiculing our soldiers why dont you go after the drug dealers and the gangs that terrorize this country .You want to help then stop them and it will help stop the violence and death of our young people every day right here .Oh you didnt see this going on well you would have to be blind not to . We should do our part right here and stop the useless deths on our streets from gang wars and pay atention to our own family members in the destruction we are causing on our own fellow men .0 Be the soldiers at home and instead of gangs of war help keep our children safe and help them learn respect and love . For today
there are millions of our children hooked on drugs sold to them by our own citizens so where were you why didnt you rally to stop this .

Wonderful piece! We ended are a spoiled country that doesn't show the respect to those that helped make it and keep it free. These young men and women have put their lives on hold for a cou ntry full of brats who do not appreciate the sacrifice. You have said a mouthful and then some in this one.

  • I love the sentiment and appreciate the passion of this write.
You touched on many very valid points.
But the realist in me has to say that its not the sleazy thugs on the street corners that sling dope to our kids that cause the destruction.
Its our beloved government; a double edged blade of sorts...

If the true organized criminals were to be exposed and actually brought to justice then we would likely be filling the prisons with the affluent and privileged, those same people that 'fight the war on drugs' and push to pass the 'tough on crime' bills are the very ones that are killing our youth, keeping the poor... poor and all the while lining their pockets with the profits ( or rather casualites of their wars)

Our government is able to find a miniscule granuail of anthrax but they aren't able to find the tons of cocaine, heroin, meth, etc... ?

No, they count on people taking their word and believing that in what they see on Fox News.

As for your points regarding the soldiers I agree 1000%
Funding for housing programs and the like by our government to keep our vetrans from being homeless is just another ruse.
Its not the lack of homes thats the problem but rather the emotional trauma those heros have suffered which keeps them from feeling safe and secure in any place or any home.
But our governemnt just keeps banking the funds in programs that aren't being utilized and this way they get to pacify the citizenry and continue to get rich of the blood of our sons and daughters.

Its the people who actually get off of our comfortable recliners and make their voices heard while showing actual physical support to those who trust enough to take our hand. (I'm including the men and women who are serving prison sentences for being an addict)

Great write and powerful words poet

well said. Yet there still is an atmosphere of , tough shit, from some going back to the days of Nam. Perhaps when Mr. Obama brings the draft back our vets will then get their just deserve. For those who serve are truly the brave.
