In my trying to share what I have to say,
I have been fought against in every way.
Never have I had such trouble in writing,
I guess it must be the devil is fighting.
How Satan hates it when we tell a story,
That brings to Jesus Christ the glory.
My story is very simple and true,
I hope you can learn from what I've been through.
I was taken to church every Sunday,
I was always taught Jesus is the way.
I remember the day He became real to me,
How lost I was and my sin was all I could see.
The preacher told how Jesus had bled and died,
To pay for my sins, I felt guilty and cried.
I invited Jesus into my heart,
That's the day my eternal life did start.
Jesus made me feel like I was brand new,
His love for me I felt was very true.
I was only eleven on that day,
As I grew older, I went my own way.
I questioned everything that I believed,
So afraid that I was being deceived.
I wondered if because of how I was taught,
Was the only reason that Jesus I sought.
Being open minded I tried to see,
If maybe some other Gods there could be.
Confused as I was by what others believe,
I had to know if there was more to receive.
Now, I never will forget the day,
I knew Jesus was the only way.
"You can be like God," was the first lie told,
By Satan being so cleverly bold.
"All roads lead to Heaven up above,
As long as you believe in love."
Satan whispers these same lies today,
Taking men to Hell along the way.
Men he gives supernatural power,
So they won't be ready at death's hour.
He hates God and he really hates man,
So he tries to deceive all he can.
Knowing his time will be spent in Hell,
He just goes looking for more to tell.
I hope you can learn from what I say,
Jesus Christ IS the only way!
That there are other faiths is very true,
But none of these faiths can really save you.
The only regrets that I have today,
Is that from Jesus I ever did stray.
Jesus was ready and waiting for me,
When His simple truth I began to see.
As a prodigal child I came back home,
From Jesus Christ I will never more roam.
He loved me even when I did not care,
He was always there with His love to share.
I ask you to take a really good look,
And compare your faith with His holy book.
For God's word will never pass away,
And there is coming a judgement day.
When before God Almighty you stand,
Will you be let in the promised land?
All have sinned and come short of God's glory,
But that is not the end of the story.
Jesus died on the cross for you and me,
So from all of our sins we could be set free.
Please come to Him before it's too late,
For there is no exit from Hell's gate.

Well, I wish I could say I have always been a good Christian, but I can't. I come from a long line of believers. There have been a lot of preachers in my family. My grandpa was head deacon and my mom has always taught Sunday School. By the time I reached my late teens, I got it in my head that I believed because of the family I was born into. I always knew Jesus was real. I just started to question if He was the only God. After much searching and studying, I discovered that I do not believe because I was taught to. I believe because I learned that Jesus IS the Only Real God. May God Bless You All

This is really wierd. I have already commented on this poem but never looked at the contest but for some reason I rana cross teh contest this morning and felt compelled to write. I don't usually enter these kinds of contests. But after reading this a second time after I have entered I can see why I felt compelled. I din't remember readin gthis poem but I see God has a message to send and you will see it too if you read mine that I entered. It is totally ironic and God works in the most mysterious and wonderful ways. This was confirmation that my writing my poem was indeed just.

I answered through the Bible for the reason that I do believe it to be God's inspired word. If I answered in "my" words, then that would have only been my opinion. I did not mean any offense in using the scriptures to answer you. The Bible Does talk about different levels and the depths of Hell. Again, this is before Dante. If you'd like I can tell you where those verses are. Thank you SOOO much for discussing our beliefs, or lack of, in a mature mannor. So many times I just get attacked, so I really appreciate it. I think as most bible scholars you are reading what you want into what I wrote. I said it doesnt say anywhere that God created Hell. The word Hell existed before Dante, Dante gave it its levels, its details, made it the Hell that we think of.
And quoting psalms etc doesnt prove anything, all you are doing is reciting the word of man and it is powermongering rubbish. -
Hell was before Dante...
Psalms 9:17 says, The wicked shall be turned into Hell, and all the nations that forget God
Isaiah 5:14 says, Therefore Hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both the soul and body in Hell
Revelations 1:18 “Jesus” says, I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of Hell and death.
Speaking of Heaven and Hell...
Matthew 7: 13-14 says, Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat:
Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
If Jesus IS God...He cannot be one of many...
John 14:6 says, Jesus saith unto him, I am THE way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father BUT by ME.
John 17: 3 says, And this IS life eternal, that they might know the ONLY TRUE GOD, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
The Seriousness Of God’s Word...
Revelations 22: 18-19 says, For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If an man shall man shall ADD unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.
And If any man shall TAKE AWAY from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

how the hell do you know that? it is precisely that attitude that turns me away from religion, it is such man made bs invented to control the poor and the ignorant so that the men at the top get richer
Hell was created by Dante, not God, where in the book does it say he created hell?

WOw!!! You said truth and you said it well. Indeed Jesus is THE ONLY WAY, nothing else is needed, according to the Bible. Let God be truth and every man a liar... for if it doesn't match up to what God's word truly teaches, it is false. Yours matches His holy word and therefore I can only say AMEN! A beautifully written piece. We walk away from Him, He doesnt'leave us. He is so good. Satan brings us trials and when we stay true to Gods word He will see us through.

I have been taught in recent weeks that God kind of expects us to stray and that is why he tests our Faith because it makes it stronger. When we venture out and fall flat on our faces and are humbled back into the grace of God we see so much more clearer his love for us and that bond becomes all the more stronger!
