“…there’s a world out there.
Can you smell the sunshine;
can you taste the scent of green?
Open your eyes and tell me you remember
May’s blue sky
where kites and hot air balloons
float lazily amidst summer’s breeze.
Can you hear my voice?
Tell me about your proposal.
Think back to your last birthday party,
and imagine the faces of your friends.
They are here for you,
waiting for you, praying for you.
Your fiancé misses you.
Your child needs you.
We want you here.
Can you feel the touch of my hand?
Open your mouth
and tell me you want to see
snow drifting from overcast sky,
while little girls
dressed in red and green
sing Christmas carols on your doorstep.
There’s a place for you,
and the world is waiting for you still.
Come back to us."

I like the way you use quotation marks at start and finish as a way to give the poem tension. It is your descriptions to entice the person back to a past happiness that are done very well.

Wonderful
Very creative write, with such strong emotions. An invitation that would be hard to ignore. Best of luck in the contest.
