French girl in Dublin city

Here I stand
After all these years
A foreigner
In the city
I breathe its breezy air
And walk its dirty streets
It is part of me and
I feel part of it
And yet I am still only
Another French girl
In Dublin city
I will never be
One of them
My accent
Betrays me
I haven't changed
My habits
My past
In other lands
Follows me
And yet
If I have to go
It will kill me.

  • Welcome To Allpoetry

This is a really good poem. The reader can sense the poet's reflection of where she came from and where she is now and how both are a part of her. I hope you enjoy the site and welcome aboard!

    Warmest wishes,
    ~Jeremy

    "If I have to go

I really enjoyed reading this, the indifference between cultures shines through every word.
I speak a little french, though I am like a rabbit in headlights when it comes to France!

I also think your title was good.
    Overall, a great effort.

Thank you for sharing and Welcome to Allpoetry!
If you need anything please do not hesitate to ask.

    In the meanwhile, take care!

    Kind regards
