What I've done

My life was good all alone
moving along like a rolling stone
Not trying to stay with just one
My one thing in life was to have fun

Then the day came when I saw her
And every thing became a big blur
Life was over for me as a single
look in her eyes and I would tingle

Just one smile melted my heart
I knew she had me from the start
To her my world I would give
For she is now the reason I live

Then the day came she said goodbye
The pain I felt made me want to die
My reason to live just walked away
And no matter what she wouldn't stay

Now I know how the ones I played
Must have felt when I walked away
If only I could go back in time
To the time when I was in my prime

I would undo all the bad I have done
And make sure that I hurt none
Maybe then I would not know
This hurt that will forever grow

Then I would be able to live
And maybe even forgive
But now I wish life was over
For life is any thing but clover

  • I really liked this. It's funny how when we're young we don't stop to consider anyone's feelings. As life goes on and comes full circle we then realize the wrongs we've done and pains we've caused. Alas we can't go back. All we can do is learn from the mistakes we've made and don't let our history repeat itself. You've displayed all of this in your poem. You did it in a quite remarkable way. Thanks for the read.

The shoe is on the other foot.

Your 20/20 hind sight is working. I liked it. We don't seem to care how much we hurt other until we are hurt ourself...then it matters. Good job.
