Farewell

Flashing—
Like slideshows—
Memories are dimly cast.
Here,
Flickering like flames,
Our perspectives of adolescence
Remind us one last time.

Opening—
Like the doors before us—
The arms of our friends welcome.
Here,
Old sores heal
And bandages of the past
Fall off for the last time.

Swiftly—
Like calendar pages—
The time has come for farewell.
Here,
The past’s nostalgia
And the future’s apprehensions join hands
To walk one last time.

No matter your past or future plans
Always remember where it all began.

Farewell, Class of 2009
