This reminds me of an eating disorder and how for some people there becomes a separation between the disease and the person. Although I've never had an eating disorder and I don't pretend to understand how it starts and how people get consumed, that was the impression I got from my sister and friends. Okay, now I'm just rambling...I liked the use of 'my'
