Breathe

I知 taking my skin off,
lifting my face to the sky to scoff.
I知 bleeding blue paint;
you池e still asking me why I look so faint.

Because I stopped breathing
long ago, concentrating on vanishing.
Because I know I値l forget you someday,
and I知 no longer afraid of the decay.

I知 a fish out of water,
the ugly puppy in the litter.
I need my red hoodie
to hide under, like a little loony.

I waved to the sky;
so fast on my bike, I could cry.
I love the wind, everlasting bubble
encapsulating me, rendering me able.

I jumped onto the swing
and threw my arms out, like a wild thing.
I watch my green laces swishing
in the wind, stopping myself from wishing.

That futile dream that still plagues me,
can I just wake up, someone please set me free.
I知 living the fated life of the soulless drone,
running on battery and thinking like a clone.

I知 taking off my face,
clearing out some space.
My head is cluttered as hell,
but you can't see anything, oh well.

I知 writing poems about square circles,
telling myself not to be silly, all these are just fables.
I知 suffocating, I need to breathe,
no matter what, just remember: Remember to breathe.

Super interesting write. I really like these lines "I watch my green laces swishing
in the wind, stopping myself from wishing. " A hint of escapism and longing. I also like how the narrator tries to collect him/herself at the end to regain control.

  • Good write with good imagery I could feel the wind on the bike ride.

  • "Because I stopped breathing
    long ago, concentrating on vanishing.
Because I know I’ll forget you someday,
and I’m no longer afraid of the decay."
    that's amazing. sounds like lyrics.
thanks for entering and good luck.

  • WOW I just read this poem..and it is AMAZING!!!! holy cow!!!

  • WOW thank you very much. It was an impromptu poem and I wasn't sure if it would turn out alright. I really enjoyed your challenge though. And just so you know, I don't usually do impromptu poems unless the subject really affects or inspires me. So thank you very much

  • oooohhh

This is a splendid write! "I need my red hoodie to hide under, like a little loony." Relation right here! (me...)
I think my favorite line is "I'm bleeding blue paint; you're still asking me why I look so faint." I just get an image in my mind so vivid of a blue person crying softly, melting away as they stand in front of somebody who is blind.
Very good. Like the rhyming too
