Fixation

As I look out at the nature around me,
The careless birds and ducks moving around,
Avoiding the stressed, hurried college students
Going through their days,
I turn around
And I see your big eyes fixed on me.
I stare back, somewhat confused and scared.
What are you looking at me for?
Are you going to attack?
Do you want to get closer?
You stand up and I stay still
As our eyes remain locked.
I turn back toward the lake
And when I face you again,
You scamper off.
I watch you move on to another girl
And wonder what that was all about.

Please tell me what you think

Well squirrels look for nuts and if he passed you up for someone else I'd consider that a seal of approval that he didn't think you were one.

I like the poem because it was a bit unexpected, you made it seem like a person. I thought that was creative. Better a squirrel (if it was) than a bear I guess.

  • wow. that was an unexpected ending. i wasnt expecting that at all.

  • Haha ooohhhh Sonya...

How do I survive without you closer...?

    • I don't know. It must be really hard on you. Lucky for me, I have never had to attempt it

  • Shouldn't you be doing school work and NOT making eyes at all the little critters...?

    • He was making eyes at ME.
And I had like...10 minutes to waste between classes. No point in starting school work

  • at first i thought it was a boy...then i realized it was a squirrel. lol.
it was probably looking at how pretty you are.
good poem. nice use of language.

  • Some of the language you use is a nice image of a man, you use the word, "scamper".
Almost like an animal, they are aren't they?

I have always viewed them as rabbits in headlights, personally.

    Nice write!

    Kind regards
