Who am I?
Where do I go?
What am I made of?
What does it show?

I can do nothing without You.
You are the one. . .
. . .who made me.

And my efforts and all that I have are nothing
Without your backing and love.

So who am I?
Where do I go?
What am I made of?
What does it show?

I know what I want
. . . my desires and dreams
And aren't those from You to some degree?

And at the same time I'm here to do Your will and not mine
isn't that true?

So who am I?
Where do I go?
What am I made of?
What does it show?

I cherish the way you end the poem the same way you opened it--with the same four questions, as if to say that you've not answered them. They are still there, though your reaching and praying throughout the poem relieves a bit of your yearning, a bit of your wanting, you still have the questions. In my mind as I read this, I was okay with that fact. The answers may be elusive, but you have the brawn and the determination to ask them in the first place. So, yes, this is sad, but hopeful at the same time.

Oh, and I love the title "?" - it's perfect.
    Cheers

    • You are all too right about all you saw there.
Thanks for such a thoughtful comment.

...those questions are a part of me.

  • So good! So much truth too! I love it!

  • No. . .you make total sense to me. . .the thing about trust and the light suddenly going on. . .it's just so true. . .I miss your comments!!

  • oh, the questions that have been running through my head over and over. who am i? am i enough? what am i doing?

you know exactly where to get those answers from... i find that i do too, but i have trouble sometimes with the listening hard enough to hear them.
doubt may enter in, but there is not only God, but someone else to help, someone that God is using to help you answer those. no one can know us like Him, but He also sends those who are there for us, for us to open up to and help us...it's the fear of trusting, but when we trust, it's like a light goes off and you can say.. thank you.

again, i make no sense. but i always like how you make me think, not only about what's going on with you, but my own life.

  • wow...that was a deep comment from joe, wouldn't you agree?

Anyways, i really like this one!

    GREAT write, write more!

  • good question.. good question...

you know the answer to some of those questions.. but sometimes that makes things harder, not easier.. but maybe if you start from a question you can answer, you can work your way to the tough ones... or maybe you could disregard this part of my comment.. lol

i like it.. written just so the reader wants to know what is going on! it needs another poem to end it!

    • haha. the only reason answers make things harder is because the more we know, the more we are accountable for.... like any knowledge. just seems more intense with self-knowledge, i guess.
