Fairy Tale

All my life I had built up a fantasy of the perfect man.
Countless romance stories and fables
helped make that fantasy a reality in my mind.
Searching for that fantasy
lead to many disappointments.
Reality made it clear that
there was no such man.
And as the years went by,
the fantasy started to fade away - until I met you.
I had almost given up on the fantasy
until my fantasy became reality,
that reality became you.

I love this poem, it's so gentle, touching and easily flowing! I didn't believe in the fantasy until it happened - almost the opposite of you! Thanks for your comment on my work - and this is really good!

Thank you for your comment and applause. Both are greatly appreciated. Well, I think I might have found him but I can't guarantee it. We have only been together for a short time (since December 19th) but I feel as if we just might make it. We are doing really good. Thanks again. -- Ashley

    Wow a magnificent write!

God I have written so many fantasy romances and have yet to find that true spark.. Lots of hope still remains though.

You built this poem very well. Congratulations on finding your Prince Charming

    Thank you

I can surely identify with this. Imet my fantasy 33 years ago, we have been married for 31 years. It can happen if you believe hard enough, I know. This could have been written by me. There is nothing wrong with fixing in your mind who your soul-mate is, and then standing by that fixation. Fantasy is greatest when it becomes reality. I have stood in the midst of many dreams while fully awake. This is so tender and beautiful.
