Why aren't there a thousand here
For you who gives us so much cheer?
You make us laugh, you make us cry,
You give us hope, the will to try.
You've been beaten up, and beaten down.
Katrina ran you out of town,
But still and all, you never quit,
You stood and made the best of it.
Proud and brave and warm and fine,
It's there to see in every line.
So here's to you, my gypsy lass,
In toast I'll raise a crystal glass
Filled to the brim with finest wine.
And celebrate a friend so fine,
But you know there's been a birthday shift,
For it's you who've given us the gift.

Great!
What a great tribute to a remarkable woman. I have to say that Doreatha is awesome and this poem is a lovely way to showcase her. The rhyme was wonderful, if I didn't know for a fact that this was about her, she would have been the 1st person to come to mind when reading it..A great job here poet!

Thank you, DeeDee
Whatever credit is due here goes to the woman for whom it was written. Inspiration is of greatest importance in any writing. The Gypsy should inspire us all.
