Slow and Steady loses out

I first fell in love
With the extensive knowledge
That was stored in that
Little head of his.

“When life throw’s you lemons make lemonade”
Was one of his favourites to quote:
His own were a lot more predisposing.

And when confronted with a crying widow
He would pat her on the shoulder and simply say:
“Time will heal all wounds”
Insensitive prat.
But the worst was to come.

Slow and steady may win the race
But it’s no way to make love I’ll tell you
After the ages drift by you wonder if cramp will come
Before satisfaction

Eventually we called it a day
“I shant say goodbye;
For the road ahead is long”
And I pray to this day
He gets hit by a truck.

I haven't wrote a poem in a while and since i'm reading alot of Carol Ann Duffy... :)

Oh, this was a good one. I loved the humor of it. I don't sense much crying over spilled milk here. The first stanza and the last lines were by far my favorite, but all in all this was a very enjoyable write. Thanks for sharing.
    God Bless, Larkbird.
