Mazzy Starring My Best Friend

Back then, I wore my baseball cap backwards
Though I had completely cut the bill off...
And we lived in my car, and I sold LSD out
of a bible that I carried around with a loose
spine like a security blanket.

We went from hotel party to party store to
bonfire; As if we'd die if we weren't the centers
of attention. That time we spent together
in the middle of that lake on Santa Clause Island?
Was like rocket science with beakers of boobs,
and more cases of beer than Ohio.

I would look at you, and you would look at me,
and we would just shake our heads and laugh.
You'd say something like "Can you believe this?"
And I'd pretend that I could.

I heard you got 9 years in prison the other day.
From a friend of ours on the phone. He said,
"Can you believe that?"
And I pretended that I couldn't.

Falls into that chasm where the roots of life run deep. Existance in a black decade of desolation where youth challenges the laws of physics and looses. In other words, hot damm. Great poem.

    Nice write Spider bite.

Sentimental, reminiscing without judgement and emotions held in check -- almost. We sense the loss without weight.

Best of luck in the contest.

    amazing

Oh wow. This touched me...I once loved a guy who is now in prison. I could have easily been in there with him now...

This reminded me of him and the past.

This is wonderful. Cant say much esle.

    For Ross
