When we enter the tunnel
will you kiss me when its dark
and only the lipstick foot prints
will tell where you have been?
If I could find a pocket in forever
would you forget the dishes need
doing and climb into this chance
where we can let love be defined?
The music is twenty years too new
for me and you. But, if I put on an old song
would you see me as younger, feel
how the blood grew hotter when I was around?
The children are at mothers, dinner
is at a wonderful restaurant and I have
tickets to the show that you really want
to see, can we kick back and be in love?
I know it gets harder the more the world
argues with us being together and laughing
about seeing the dew before the sun comes up.
Bills to pay, keep the job that is all effed up.
You understand, I do this cause I want to be
your man. Every once and a while, no matter the cost
lets be silly and chase each other around the bed.
Then, with you in the mind, I can face hell again.
When I kiss you on the neck while your doing dishes
or squeeze your cheeks when you push the vacuum past,
I am not looking for sex, only to remind you
you are the best thing that has happened in this life.

Author notes
I could not resist this. I read the words to the song, I listened to the music and realized that I am not a teenager, my son is. But I still want to be silly once and awhile and hear my wife laugh and hug me with a sense of bliss.

oh goodness....this is a tear wiper...
my fav. verses:
If I could find a pocket in forever
would you forget the dishes need
doing and climb into this chance
where we can let love be defined?
The music is twenty years too new
for me and you. But, if I put on an old song
would you see me as younger, feel
how the blood grew hotter when I was around?
and of course that final verse is
another to tear all our hearts out...
in marital understanding.
When I kiss you on the neck while your doing dishes
or squeeze your cheeks when you push the vacuum past,
I am not looking for sex, only to remind you
you are the best thing that has happened in this life.
my...my....that was an interesting
and passionate contrast!

This is another kind of sensuality. Only the married with kids understand about pockets of time. How magic is caught and like a soap bubble immediately blown, you don't look away or make excuses, you watch that rainbow vessel till it's gone. So it is with the magic when it occurs, you fall in love all over again, romance in the convertible cum lazy boy. Life is too short. You never have enough time. You don't try to do everything in every room. That is for teenagers and youngsters on a honey moon. You take any moment you get and the magic in it and make sure it is one more forever to remember. You never have enough of them.

There's nothing juvenile about this song whatsoever, in fact-everyone in this band is older than me. But then I forget you're as ancient as the hills
. (Im kidding, maybe just the trees on top
). . .as far as the poem goes, what can I say?
First, I love being chased, and Im sure Im not the only one in the world that feels that way. Being the center of my love's gravity aside, I think just being desired is a wonderful thing, and being loved stemming from that desire couldn't make it any better, in my eyes. That's my humble opinion.
To trust another enough to want them to just lay there with you, and dream. . .? To be content in that trust, and be able to return in kind..? That's the epitome of happily ever after.
Wonderful. Kudos to the title too, you cracked me up with that.
Love to you always,

I wanted to contrast the song about fresh love with a poem about a well worn love. You know, the one with a few split seams and a few stains. Still sturdy and very real, where the eyes still sparkle cause of some crazy feeling called love. It makes us all humble when we see it, even if it is the old couple in the park still walking along holding hands and obviously young 'cause they are still in love. See. Caught you looking
we all are. Wondering. Why can't I be lucky enough to have it be me.
You know, I believe it can be. Never be desperate and never give up and always believe you deserve only the best heart in this land.
Love,
Tom B.

That is absolutely correct. Feeling like the best thing. It lets you be silly, lets you wake up easily from a blue moment because you are always filled with joy.

Thanks for bringing me back to this one. It is far better than I remembered. Perhaps, because in writing it I didn't realize how intimate I was being. Once in a relationship the everyday is the hardest part.

Much needed reminder to enjoy the little moments in life. (My husband and I like to have twizzler fights when we travel. Makes the time pass on the road!)

Ah twizzler fights, the blessings of love and delight.

Really? I really wonder sometimes about my husband. He does that to me. He rarely compliments me, but he will grab my behind or other unmentionalbe places without requiring sex. Most of those times are when I am cleaing, cooking, etc. Is that really a sign of his love? I like the way you think.

I think we want to have a life with out any downs, we want to be happ with out ever seeing a frown, but you take what you can when it shows up. You keep looking for opportunities to act like young pups. Don't worry about embarrassing the kids, that is what they are there for. You are never too old for dumb luck and a chance to share a smile with one you picked up at the wedding and kept around for a life time.

Awwwww, this is dear...can I tell you a secret, knowing, of course, no one but you and I will know it..oh and R of course...
Every night, just before we fall too slepp ( sometimes R already is) I bonk his head with the flat of my palm, tweak his nose, yank his ear and wobble his chin...just because I can..and just because I like to here his sleepy voice say, "brat!" Then, I can sleep in youthful bliss knowing I bugged someone today. LOL

Yeap! That's it.

Love the first time is wonderful when we are young, but when you can't resist in maturity it only goes to show that age means little where the rapport moves affecton to sizzle. And a son should know that when love is genuine, it lasts a lifetime. Besides all work and no play .... NO~ Very cute, Tomis, and right on the mark, too.

It is so easy to forget to be a little silly, a little fresh. It isn't always about sex and when people are secure there is no need to prove it. Brings a little sunshine to act a little out of your mind.
