It seemed like a good idea at the time,
Getting up at three in the morning.
Driving off to Manchester Airport,
Before the day is dawning.
A day long trip to Iceland,
Thats the country, not the shop.
It seemed like a top drawer suggestion,
Just it caught me on the hop.
A coach ride through the glaciers,
Scenery that looked like the moon.
Then a stop to take a relaxing bathe,
In the world famous Blue Lagoon.
Then came the days main highlight,
A trip to see the whales.
To their home in the Atlantic Ocean,
First came their heads, then their tails.
It seemed like a good idea at the time,
A boat trip from Reykjavik.
Its just a terrible shame I forgot,
How easily I get sea sick.

He he he! great rhyme there for Reykjavik
I liked this as it was unusual in the sense that most other poets have submitted more "serious" pieces rather than humourous ones. Great take on the picture
Good luck in the contest

Loved it!
I loved the humor. You caught me from the beginning to the end. My favorite was "A coach ride through the glaciers,
Scenery that looked like the moon. Then a stop to take arelaxing bathe, In the world famous Blue Lagoon.

I feel your pain....sea sick pain, that is. (been there, done that....never again) Never been to Iceland..the country or the shop, but I've seen whales in the Bay of Fundy.
Nice poem, with a great rhyming flow and good 'feel' to it. I like it.
Thank you for entering this

Humour from the picture - I didn't expect this. I went to Iceland (the shop) once - didn't know so many things could be sold frozen lol) to see Whales of any type, anywhere would be a bonus and an exhilarating experience.
Nice take on the picture. Good Luck and thanks for your entry
