Do not walk roughly
on that good shore.
Listen,
in the morning calm,
as the waves break slow
and rhythmic,
and the only cries
are those of terns.
Wait upon the sunrise
to etch the ridgelines.
Understand that here
did human enmity forge
oft repeated icons.
And when those icons recede
from memory,
and current nations fade,
still the waves will break rhythmic
upon that good shore.

Good
You have essentially given this gift to those who did die in WWI; but, have also reminded those who are living. It is hard to describe walking in a military cemetery, each person feels when they do - regardless of their political stance.
"Wait upon the sunrise
to etch the ridge lines.
Understand that here
did human enmity forge
oft repeated icons."
Strong emotion was evoked when I read this; I thought this was respectful. I feel encouraged to be great. Thanks for sharing.

Let those who walk there remember they walk on the soil where heroes lie, and the waves will wash that shore forever. The waves know what mankind does not.

reads nicely ...
and it is with reverant hope that it will not be spoiled by the hands of men that do not respect all that she waves for! j
