Contrition.

My heart bled

and dyed the roses red,

tear drops fell to quench

the drought of grief.

The plinths by your grave sides

have worn to a pew

wherein my chapel of sorrow

I still light the candle for you...

Unanswered prayers

wears the path to the cemetry

and while I sit and call your names

to every breeze

It resusciates that hurricane

which took everything

and left me.

I mourn

with a heartbeat of thunder

and cry a monsoon of tears

because my mind

will not allow me

to forget you.

bleed -> bled. i'd add a period after ed, and drop 'as' from the next line? tear drops fall / and quench grief's draught.

    beautiful write, thanks!

    WOW

I can SO feel this and yours is WAY better than mine. Your poem touched my heart and played the pain of my loss like a harp held by my guardian angels for whom I still mourn who have part.

I am not saying anything here because I know and it touches me again, the way it did that day you allowed me to share with you. Know that they remain in my heart always with you. C

  • Healing comes with time, but not in and of THIS world. Perhaps in another... When those we love are the lost, and sorrow falls around us forever and ever, no amount of time can ever take away their memory. Nor will we ever forget them, not in our lives... Thank you for sharing your heart-and-soul-felt 'poem of memorial' to your parents and lost siblings. I feel your grief, and all I can say is, that I can only hope for better tomorrows, for the future of our ALL children, everywhere the world over. And I pray for some kind of peace and solace to accompany you, as you light up the candles of your life. Take care, and God Bless. Loves ya, xx Cyn xx
