SQUEAKY WHEELS (c) Copyright 2009 by Earl F. Hubbard Jr.
(from LISTEN TO YOUR HEART coming SOON!)
'The squeaky wheels get the grease',
used to be so true.
These days they are thrown away,
just like me and you.
Whatever helps the bottom line,
and me, me, me, me, me,
is all our bosses care about,
in this slow economy.
As long as Wall Street's happy,
and swimming deep in cash,
men who make it happen,
are thrown out with the trash -
for cheap, illegal labor,
from across the sea,
or from across our borders,
to our fields and factories.
In our fields and factories they toil,
in our diners, dives, and joints,
The Middle Class is nearly dead,
and I think that is the point -
as the rich long to grow richer,
filled with the devil's greed!
It makes a poor man wonder,
how much does one man need?
How much does one man need,
to live a happy life?
How many homes and planes,
mistresses and wives?
Poor children go to bed,
without a bite to eat,
Men and women live,
like Zombies on the street.
I swear this isn't fair,
A lot here isn't right,
as I write this in my chair,
and wish 'my love' Good Night.

This is so true sweet, those that have often forget about how they got it...leaving those that have worked long and hard to suffer. It isn't right or fair that people should suffer in this day and age yet it is allowed to happen...I can relate to this a whole lot as I imagine many can. The politicians have so much to answer to...to them it is do as I say not I do as they swan around in gas guzzling cars and own more property's than they will ever need. I could go on...don't get me started. LOL!! Fab write baby
Love you Chelle xxx

I really feel that zombie part...I think there should be a zombie emoticon, hmmm I wonder what it would look like...
I miss just being a mother to Zadee and our life is pretty simple...I am a pretty simple person...though I do need to work...sigh

I think this is a subject that every person can relate to. Money isn't everything but it sure does make life a whole lot easier. Its sad those who can afford to help sometimes choose not to
nice write and you got your point across very well.

The world is full of greed and I doubt that will change for the better in the future. Those with the most are keen to hang on to it and close their eyes to those in need. World economy is probably in the worst state it has ever been and politicians have plenty of talk with little action to put put it right. It seems near enough the whole world is suffering and people are travelling further than ever before in search of a better way of life.

Your words are so true. Your economy in the U.S. is in turmoil. Ours in Canada will probably follow yours soon. So far, we've been lucky. You've penned such powerful words which seem to flow effortlessly. Thanks for sharing again poetryman.

Such a sad but true poem. I'm feeling the crunch like never before as hours get cut and there are no other jobs to replace them. You have done an excellent job describing our problem here in the US. Something has to give before we breakdown.
Much Love,
Lily ♥
