the kid had a
second hand guitar
hung from her shoulder
and her father’s cap
in her hand

 

I watched her walk
down two streets
balancing on the curb

I once read that
colour can bring out
a person’s happiness

but they never said
what colour -

I liked red

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

iii


her eyes went for a stroll
over the horizon

and by the time
they got back


he was home.
