Hi, Lily. I'm your Mommy.
Right now, my stomach is your home.
You're getting bigger every day,
And I love watching my belly grow.
I take pictures every week,
So you can see someday,
How big you were before you were born,
Before your big birthday.
Your name is Amelia Jane,
Which already fits you
You're named after your great aunts,
Who Daddy and I loved and knew.
Amelia is for your Great Aunt Mickey,
Sitto's older sister.
She was strong-willed and caring,
And we really miss her.
Great Aunt Mickey was named Amelia,
And was very close to Grammy.
She had quite the attitude,
And was quite cheeky.
Jane is for your Great Aunt Jane,
Who died before you were born.
Mommy loved her very much
And wishes she could see you, my little girl firstborn.
Mommy was very close with Great Aunt Jane,
And misses her every day.
I wish that you could see and get to know her
And maybe even play.
Great Aunt Jane was like a mommy to Mommy.
I know you'd love her very much.
She'd play with you, take you to the beach,
And take you shopping and such.
Lily is what we'll call you.
Your Great Aunt Lillian would be proud.
To have her name live on with you,
Unforgotten in the crowd.
Daddy and I can't wait to meet you
And look you in the eye.
We'll hug and squeeze and kiss you
And love our sweet surprise.

It's nice to see you writing for your unborn bub, I really enjoyed it. I also like the history of the choice of your names. I was due to give birth to my baby boy on the 21st of Feb, 2010, but he's a big bub for his 'age' so they either got my EDD wrong, or I may need to be induced earlier if he keeps growing bigger than usual.
You've now inspired me to write something for him
thank you and good luck! ox

This was very sweet, the bond a mother and child have is amazing and nothing like anything else, even before they are born. You daughter will definately appreciate this poem once she is older. Have a wonderful, healthy pregnancy and a safe birth!

Ditto what Reni said!
Hard to imagine that Kate - little Kate could have two little kids, and a hubby as well. Seems like a million years ago we met.
This is pretty durn sweet and tells the whole story and why she will be Amelia Jane. I think it's really neat when the names have a meaning and a history. It also provides "continuity" to a family I think. I agree too, the last stanza is so nice. Sums things up.

I can't wait to meet Amelia Jane!
I love the last stanza but the whole of it makes me smile. Gosh, I've had like a baby boom around me lately! teehee.

Thanks, Reni! <3333
I wrote one for Andrew before he was born, but I lost it. It's probably pretty similar to this though... minus all the Amelia Jane stuff.
You're next in line!!!! Get married already! <3
