My Worst Fear

I run,
Down the dark winding path.
Calling for help
Searching for a way out,
Even though there is none
I don't know how i got here.
All I remember is walking home
The screeching of tyres,
The pain of something hitting me at vast speed.
I remember the screams of people and the sirens,
His voice calling to me
Pleading me to get back up.
Then...
Silence.
Now I am running
And I feel fine
What is this place
Am I dreaming?
I continue to scream for help
Why won't anyone help me?
Is there anyone here?
I hear something behind me,
Running footsteps.
Someone is chasing me
I run and scream
There are flashes,
So bright,
Like lightning.
Everytime there is a flash,
I look behind
And there is a shadow...
Following me
I run faster and faster,
This cannot go on for much longer
The shadow will soon catch up
Then...
I trip
On nothing
Stupid, clumsy me
Always messing things up,
At the worst of times.
The shadow descends,
And I know it is over
He has finally caught up with me.
The one I have always feared
Finally he has me,
Standing over me
My worst fear.
I knew I could not run forever
But why now?
Death
Has caught up with me
All is over
And as I utter my final scream
He takes me
And there is once more...
Silence.
