To My Dear Mother

The world must think i'm mad,
But oh how I hate you.
Putting a man, that species before your child.
Your own flesh and blood.
Taking his side over mine
His comfort over mine.
I Hate you.

You are everything I pray i'll never be.
Wishing bad on your own child,
Wishing bad on me.
From the day I was born,
I should have known I was to be the slave.

To sacrifice my happiness and my days.
Looking after your brat of a child was that the plan.
Have you any idea how i dreamt of cutting my hands.
Do you know the pills I took to end it all.
How each and every night my brain kept bouncing off the wall.

I hate you, I really do.
But I pity you all the more.
How do you sleep with yourself at night?
After all that you know.
If the Lord doesn't punish you,
Your own thoughts will.

Wicked demon, in my eyes such disgust n filth.
I hope my bitterness doesn't stay within me forever.
And taint my unknown future
But never will my kids know the feeling,
Of last position or be placed second to none
At the end of your days
You'll see the wicked you have done.

Parents are people too and they get things very wrong - but that is no help to you at all. It shouldn't be the way you describe, mothers and daughters should be special but we don't all get lucky enough for that to happen. Make sure your bitterness is melted away as you love your own kids. One day it will no longer hurt you. Well done for the write. Sheila

Hi there... this is a really raw write- and I admire the veracity of your piece- your thoughts and feelings clearly shows through here, in the very first lines:

"The world must think i'm mad,
But oh how I hate you."

And I absolutely loved this part here-

"Wicked demon, in my eyes such disgust n filth.
I hope my bitterness doesn't stay within me forever."

-this is so unfettered and raw! And I can hear your plea to be set free from the hatred too...

Ah well, wish you all the best with unresolving all your feelings (if this is based on a true experience..).. Thank you so much for your entry!

P.S. I'm putting you on the finalists' list!
