On an April evening we walked,
talked of things trivial,
a new dress, flavored yogurt, how
the truest blue is the sky above
spring-green had barely begun,
just a faint fuzz outlined
bushes, newly plowed fields smelled
of worms, muck & manure
the neighbor’s cat stalked us
in feline rushes and dead stops;
we played along, pretended
it was a fearsome jungle cat
your cane made a rhythmic thump-thump
with each step; there was comfort in that
I tipped my head back -
squinted until my eyes
held only blue & thought
i am small
i am small
in a very big place
then looked at you
& thought
but not insignificant

It's like a window into someone else's life, that is what I love so much about poetry. This piece is vivid with imagery, I could see the story playing itself out, it was so warm and happy, LadyUnique, this is definatly uniquely wonderful. This piece left me with a sense of happiness. I loved the end. Excellent job. You are a very talented writer. ♥ tearrsofthemoon

Imagery with crystaline clarity, emotion that ebbs and flows then washes in waves over the reader and a deployment of the senses, sight, sound, smell and of being touched, it has movement and momentum, it's endearing naturallness and open narrative was not lost in the last line but allowed to resonate. Simply lovely.
Kudos.

You are truly not insignificant! I love this poem, it's gentle and wonderfully descriptive, a sneak peak into someone's life at a moment where everything fit into the mold as it should. Huzzah, huzzah, huzzah - small meaningful friend!

Truly Shines
Infrequently, someone speaks & I think...
I wish I had said that truth.
More often, I hear others proclaim
"I am bigger than I am".
Truth just IS.
